I’ve been really looking forwards to posting the photos from this super cute little forest themed nursery for some time now. This nursery was part of the Kelowna Spring Baby show, in which Daniela Sitar Photography ran the Cutest Baby Contest. Our inspiration for this nursery started with some Pinterest photos Daniela had been saving up, and evolved in some really cool ways as we began sourcing items locally.
We knew we really wanted birch trees on the walls, but we wanted something a little different than the typical ‘wallpaper feature wall of white tree trunks’ We went for something totally customized…
During our Colour Consultation, we looked over greys that would work well with our crib bedding selections from Baby & Me.
I opted to use two different shades of grey for the main walls. These two base colours were quite significant to the finished space. I definitely wanted them to be true greys, while still maintaining warmth in the undertone of the colours. (Greys can be tricky and change the way they look once painted on a wall. The tendency is for some greys to come out looking too blue or lavender-ish.) Last thing we’d want a nursery to feel is icy & cold. Same theory with the light blue accents in the leaves. Just little pops of colour, I kept those blues soft and serene as well. Finally I finished the hand painted trees with an overlay of pearlescent paint on the leaves only – this just gave them a little extra sparkle and depth.
Working in more of the forest theme: Sticks, twine, felt & patience… voila handmade baby owl mobile.
So much fun! Check out the next custom nursery we had the pleasure of working on for Weston with new mom Melissa 🙂
